DONALD R. KEOUGH APPOINTED TO McDONALD'S BOARD

 OAK BROOK, Ill., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Mike Quinlan, chairman and CEO, McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) , today announced the appointment of Donald R. Keough, chairman of Allen & Company Incorporated and retired president and COO of The Coca-Cola Company, to McDonald's board of directors, effective Dec. 1, 1993.
 "Don brings us the knowledge and experience he gained over more than 40 years with The Coca-Cola Company, building its preeminent global leadership position as the world's best-known brand," said Quinlan. "Don has earned respect throughout the McDonald's System in the many years of our strong business relationship. He will be a great asset to McDonald's, as we continue to focus our efforts in satisfying every one of our customers and extending our global growth."
 He retired as president, chief operating officer and a director of The Coca-Cola Company in April, 1993 and at that time, he was appointed advisor to the Coca-Cola board. Shortly after his retirement from Coca-Cola, Keough was elected chairman of the board of Allen & Company Incorporated, a New York investment banking firm.
 His tenure with Coca-Cola dates back to 1950. He held various key positions prior to being named president of the company's Foods Division in 1971. Subsequently, he held the office of the president of Coca-Cola USA and was later given the responsibility for the Company's business in North and South America. Keough was elected president, chief operating officer and director of The Coca-Cola Company in 1981. From 1986 to 1993, he served as chairman of the board of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc., the world's largest bottling system.
 Keough serves on the boards of National Service Industries, Inc., H.J. Heinz Company, The Washington Post Company and Home Depot. He is immediate past chairman of the board of trustees of the University of Notre Dame and a trustee of several other educational institutions. Since 1985, he has served on the Board of Trustees of Ronald McDonald Children's Charities. He also serves on the boards of a number of national charitable and civic organizations.
 Keough has received various honors in his career including honorary doctorates from the University of Notre Dame; his alma mater, Creighton University; Emory University and Trinity University, Dublin, Ireland. The University of Notre Dame's highest honor, the Laetare Medal, was presented to Keough in May, 1993.
