DON'T JUST TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT
DOUGLASSVILLE, Pa., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- There's an old saying that everybody talks about the weather, but no one ever does anything about it.
One thing you can do about the weather is protect your shoes against the ravages of snow, sleet, slush and rain.
The shoe care experts at Kiwi Brands point out that a little prevention can save hundreds of dollars in ruined shoes.
And, it's not too soon to get moving, since you never know when Mother Nature can turn nasty, as she did last Halloween by burying parts of the Midwest with more than two feet of snow.
    Waterproofing
The uppers of dress shoes (and that includes suede shoes) should be protected with a leather protector product like Kiwi Protect-All. A stain-fighter that repels oil as well as water, Protect-All should be sprayed on after each polishing -- the wetter the weather, the more often it should be used.
The leather soles of these shoes need a heavy duty treatment as well. e?n these soles are exposed to moisture they absorb water. Ultimately ruining the shoe as well as making your feet miserable. A product like Kiwi Wet Pruf, which is absorbed into the leather to create a moisture barrier, gives extra weatherproofing protection.
    Cleaning
A properly protected shoe is easier to clean. However, water damage is a particularly difficult problem to deal with.
Since the evaporation of water makes leather stiff, you want to try a product like Kiwi Saddle Soap -- it cleans and softens damaged leather to make your shoes look better and feel more comfortable.
If you need specific help in caring for suede shoes, Kiwi Suede Cleaner is available to keep these increasingly popular items looking good.
    Conditioning
Kiwi Mink Oil is good for conditioning and preserving smooth leather, while providing some water protection. It also helps to elimia?te the stiffness associated with weather-damaged shoes.
Weatherproofing your shoes is neither difficult nor time-consuming and can help you avoid weather-damaged shoes as well as cold, wet feet.
