DON'T CALL ME SIR CALL ME DEMI-GOD.

ROCK star Bono insisted on being called a "demi-god" and not "sir" as he accepted an honorary knighthood knighthood: see chivalry; courtly love; knight.  in Dublin yesterday.

It was awarded to the U2 singer for his musical and humanitarian work.

He picked up the gong at the British ambassador's official residence where he was joined by his family and the rest of U2.

Like Bob Geldof, he cannot be called "Sir" Bono, as he is not a British citizen.

Instead, the 46-year-old joked: "You can call me lord of lords Lord of Lords may refer to:
  • a title of Marduk
  • a title of Jesus from 1 Timothy 6:15
 or a demi-god."
