Birmingham dominated host Chatsworth 36-7 to clinch Clinch, river, c.300 mi (480 km) long, formed by the junction of two forks in SW Va., and flowing generally SW across E Tenn. to the Tennessee River at Kingston.  a share of the West Valley League title in the first game pitting Croson and his former player Corcoran.

Corcoran played for Croson at Chaminade from 1989-91 and was an assistant with his mentor at the West Hills school from 1998-99.

``It's a not a rivalry until we beat them,'' Corcoran said of Croson.

``And if there is any rivalry, it's a friendly one. They didn't do anything that we didn't know was coming. He has great athletes.''

There's no argument from Croson, who talked with Corcoran several times by telephone earlier this week on that point.

``I am just proud of the job (Corcoran) has done at Chatsworth,'' Croson said. ``We've got some pretty good players. We're a little bit ahead of him.''

James Beloff passed for a career-high 299 yards, going 11 of 17 with three touchdowns in three quarters to help Birmingham (6-3, 4-0) win its fourth in a row. The senior was 9 of 12 for 240 yards in the first half for the Patriots, who built a 29-0 lead at halftime.

Junior Milton Knox rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns in 18 carries.

Senior Willie Chandler Chandler, city (1990 pop. 90,533), Maricopa co., S central Ariz., in the Salt River valley; inc. 1920. Tourism is also important, and the San Marcos Golf Resort is in Chandler.  caught four passes for 110 yards and touchdowns of 31 and 55 yards. Sophomore De'Von Flournoy had four receptions for 115 yards and a 33-yard touchdown.

Birmingham almost came up with a third shutout in a row against Chatsworth (6-3, 2-2), and limited senior James Walker James Walker may refer to a number of persons:

to 55 yards in 23 carries.

A Birmingham loss would have forged a three-way tie for first in the West Valley League standings with Taft and Chatsworth.

of Woodland Hills could cement a top-four seeding for the Patriots.

``We're always looking toward the playoffs but league comes first,'' Chandler said. ``We didn't want to share anything with Taft.''
