DOMINGO, KIROV ORCHESTRA: BEAUTIFUL MUSIC.

, the world-class tenor who will assume artistic directorship of the Los Angeles Opera The Los Angeles Opera is an opera company in Los Angeles, California, United States. The company's home base is the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, part of the Los Angeles Music Center.  on July 1, will sing three concerts with the Kirov Orchestra as a vocal addendum to the company's 2000-2001 season, announced Thursday.

Domingo's three concerts with the Kirov Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev Valery Abisalovich Gergiev (Ossetic: Гергиты Абисалы фырт Валери , will take place Sept. 10, 13 and 15. He will sing Act 1 of Wagner's ``Die Walkure'' and Act 2 of the composer's ``Parsifal,'' the first time Domingo has performed Wagner in Los Angeles.

The singer said he added the concerts because he was not otherwise scheduled to perform with Los Angeles Opera during the upcoming season, which was planned by outgoing general director Peter Hemmings.

Season subscribers will receive priority ordering for the concerts, beginning May 1.

The lineup includes four new productions:

``Aida,'' by Giuseppe Verdi, nine performances Sept. 6-28. With soprano Deborah Voigt and tenor Johan Botha.

``La Cenerentola,'' by Gioachino Rossini, seven performances Sept. 8-24. With mezzo-soprano mezzo-soprano: see soprano.  Jennifer Larmore and tenor Kurt Streit.

``Peter Grimes,'' by Benjamin Britten, seven performances, Oct. 18-Nov. 4. Directed by John Schlesinger. With tenor Philip Langridge and soprano Nancy Gustafson.

``Giulio Cesare,'' by George Frideric Handel, seven performances Feb. 23-March 10. With countertenor countertenor, a male singing voice in the alto range. Singing in this range requires either a special vocal technique called falsetto, or a high extension of the tenor range.  David Daniels and soprano Elizabeth Futral.

The four revival productions are:

``La Boheme,'' by Giacomo Puccini, nine performances Nov. 29-Dec. 21. With soprano Leontina Vaduva and tenor Aquiles Machado.

``Le Nozze Di Figaro,'' by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, eight performances Jan. 16-Feb. 3. With bass-baritone Richard Bernstein and soprano Maria Bayo.

``Don Pasquale,'' by Gaetano Donizetti, seven performances April 11-29. With bass-baritone Simone Alaimo, soprano Ruth Ann Swenson Ruth Ann Swenson (August 25, 1959) is an American soprano who is renowned for her brilliance in coloratura roles.

Born in Bronxville, New York and raised on Long Island in Commack, she studied at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and briefly at Hartt College of Music
 and baritone Thomas Allen.

``Tosca,'' by Giacomo Puccini, nine performances June 6-27. With soprano Catherine Malfitano and tenor Richard Leech.
