The Antelope Valley
, received $1.5 million in grants to help maintain services, officials announced Tuesday.

Santa Clarita's Domestic Violence Center and the Antelope Valley Domestic Violence Council/Valley Oasis Shelter each received $65,000 ``to continue providing safe, confidential locations for victims of domestic violence and their children,'' county Supervisor Michael D. Antonoich said in a statement.

The 20-year-old center in Newhall offers shelter for abused women and their children, along with counseling and referral services, an emergency hotline, an emergency food supply program and counseling groups for abusive partners.
