What's kind of sad is watching as Roseanne repeatedly turns to those around her for approval, as they constantly reassure her by laughing, a little too assertively, at her putative quips. Nonetheless, Roseanne underscores the hubris Hubris An arrogance due to excessive pride and an insolence toward others. A classic character flaw of a trader or investor. that convinced her that both this and the cooking shows are good ideas: ``I'm the genius, and I'll take care of the funny.'' At one point, one of her hangers-on asks of the sketchy concept they've slapped together for the cable series, ``Is that enough to do a show?'' Roseanne replies: ``Who gives a (expletive)?''
