: DLTR DLTR Duke Law and Technology Review ) reported sales for the second quarter of 1995, which ended on June June: see month.  30, 1995, of $62.9 million, or 39.6% above sales for the second quarter of 1994 of $45.0 million. Sales in comparable stores for the quarter ended June 30, 1995, increased 16.8% above sales in same stores for the quarter ended June 30, 1994.

The increase in comparable store sales is attributable to a strong Easter selling season (April comparable store sales increased 32%) and new promotional efforts. The strong Easter selling season resulted from increased Easter merchandise and a strong inventory position in all other categories; the positive effect in April comparative store sales was also attributed to the shift of Easter to mid April. The new promotional efforts included the grouping of similar merchandise into theme displays from different categories within the store for the customers' convenience.

Dollar Tree reported that 1994 comparable store sales increases in the respective calendar quarters were 7.5%, 4.7%, 13.6% and 8.4%.
