DOLLAR GENERAL REPORTS RECORD SALES FOR JULY.

: DG) today reported total retail sales for the four-week period ended July 28, 1995, equaled $118.0 million compared with $93.1 million in 1994, an increase of 26.8 percent. Same store sales Same Store Sales

For the second quarter ended July 31, 1995, Dollar General total retail sales increased 28.7 percent to $407.1 million compared with $316.4 million in the same period last year. Same store sales for the second quarter increased 10.6 percent, versus an 11.3 percent increase in the same period last year.

 through July 31, 1995, Dollar General total retail sales increased 24.4 percent to $749.6 million compared with $602.6 million for the same period last year. Same store sales for the year-to-date have increased 7.8 percent.

On August 8, 1995, Dollar General plans to announce earnings for its second quarter ended July 31, 1995.
