DOLE'S MANAGER TOSSES GENDER QUESTION BACK.

Byline: Rick Orlov Daily News Staff Writer

Much is being made about the gender gap problems presidential candidate Bob Dole faces with more women favoring President Clinton than the Republican nominee.

An exasperated Ken Khachigian Kenneth L. Khachigian was a former speechwriter for Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.

He received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from UC Santa Barbara and his law degree from Columbia University.
, manager of Dole's California campaign, finally had enough of the question this week.

``Ask me about that when you answer why Clinton has a gender gap among men,'' Khachigian said.

Assemblywoman Paula Boland said she had been looking forward to this week's GOP convention to get away from some of the Sacramento battles over her bill to give the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

No such luck.

On Wednesday, when she had planned to celebrate her 20th wedding anniversary with a dinner with her husband before going to the convention, she was told of plans to hold a hearing the next day on her bill.

Three days after a flap over abortion rights kept him from speaking at the Republican convention, Gov. Pete Wilson For others named Pete Wilson, see .

And, it was in a featured position to introduce Elizabeth Dole for her speech to the delegates.

``The governor was doing an interview and wasn't able to get back to them until about 11:45. He said, `Tell Bob, I'd be delighted.' '' Low said. Manafort told the governor that Dole had called and asked that Wilson make the introduction, according to the governor's spokesman.

Since Friday, Wilson has made much of the fact that his planned prime-time speech on Monday was canceled in a dispute with convention organizers.

At first, it was said that Wilson was being treated the same as the other unsuccessful presidential candidates who are not being permitted to speak.
