DOGS ARE THE STARS TONIGHT.

PALMDALE - Dog owners can dress up their dogs and enter contests at Thursday Night on the Square, which begins at 5:30 tonight at Poncitlan Square, 38315 9th St. E.

Dogs will be judged in categories including best use of a theme, biggest bark, fluffiest tail, yappiest dog, smallest dog and dog that looks most like its owner. Prizes will be awarded by event sponsor Petco. Dogs must be on leashes at all times.

Owners should sign in at 5:30 p.m. Judging will take place at 6:30 p.m. and winners will be announced at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Also during the event, Palmdale's public safety office will kick off National Night Out with a variety of crime prevention and safety related activities. On display will be the city's mobile command center The Mobile Command Center, or MCC for short, is a fictional vehicle from , a series of military-themed toys from Hasbro. It is part of the 1987 edition of the toyline. It is the mobile land base of the G.I. Joe Team. , a sheriff's patrol unit, dirt bike patrol, traffic motorcycle and bicycle patrol units.

The Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  Jazz Ensemble will perform big band music from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The evening will also feature an open-air farmers market with fresh fruits and vegetables, craft vendors, food and specialty merchandise vendors; Barnes and Noble storytelling Storytelling
