Chanel the dachshund passed away on Friday, aged 147 in "dog years", said her owners Denice and Karl Shaughnessy. Chanel, 21 in human years, was given the world's oldest dog title by Guinness World Records at a birthday party in Manhattan last May. Denice said: "She once ate an entire bag of peanut butter cups and she lived to be 21, so go figure." She was also sensitive to the cold and liked to wear a jumper, said Denice. The Shaughnessys attributed Chanel's longevity to a higher being. "Dogs are God's angels sent here to look out for us," she added.
