and a central figure in Las Vegas' quest to bring spring training to the desert, said a complex couldn't be ready for teams by February 2001.

``No, it couldn't get done,'' Logan said. ``I don't see how. No.''

Because of the work entailed to build a four- or six-team training complex, a Dodgers official said February 2002 would also be a difficult deadline to meet. However, the club doesn't plan to make an announcement yet on their plans for next spring.

Also, the chance remains for the Dodgers to continue their relationshipwith Vero Beach into the future. A Florida bill that would provide funding for Dodgertown is supposed to be heard in the House and Senate next week, and it could make its way to Gov. Jeb Bush's office by the first week of May.

Six teams, including the Dodgers, met with Las Vegas officials last month about a mega-facility for spring training. Logan said talks will resume in the upcoming weeks.
