The Dodgers are one of a handful of teams expected to enter a bid for the right to negotiate with Japanese free-agent pitcher Kazuhisa Ishii Kazuhisa Ishii (石井一久 Ishii Kazuhisa; born September 9, 1973 in Wakaba-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese Major League Baseball pitcher. , who made himself available for the major leagues.

Teams must enter bids for players such as Ishii, a left-handed left-handed

 starter who was 12-6 with a 3.39 ERA for the Yakult Swallows last season. Bidding is set to close Monday. Yakult then has four days to accept a bid, giving the winning team 30 days to try and work out a contract.
