DODGERS SPRING TRAINING NOTEBOOK : HALL WON'T BE SHOPPED.Byline: Kevin Acee Daily News Staff Writer Darren Hall Michael Darren Hall (born July 14, 1964, in Marysville, Ohio) was a Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers. Sources
It just hurts - because he doesn't hurt anymore. ``It's the first season in a couple years I feel I'm finally healthy,'' said Hall, who has had two surgeries on his throwing (right) elbow in the past two years. ``It's kind of exciting to go out there and pitch. Every pitch you throw, you go, `OK. I'm OK.' '' What has Hall down is that he is likely being sent down. The Dodgers have 12 pitchers for 11 spots. With Tom Candiotti ``I'm not crying out or begging,'' Hall said. ``I feel like I'm healthy. I'm throwing the ball well. If somebody wants me in the big leagues, I'd like to go. . . . I'm not pissed off at one particular person. The bottom line is I want to go if somebody wants me.'' Hall came to spring training with high hopes, thinking Candiotti would be traded. In 8-2/3 innings this spring, he has allowed 10 hits and has a 2.08 ERA. He has struck out 10 and walked two. He figures he has pitched well enough to make the major-league roster. At 32, he also figures his time is running out. ``I spent nine years in the minor leagues,'' said Hall, who could very well be called up for a significant portion of the season. ``I'd like to get my (major-league) service time while I can. I'm no spring chicken anymore. I'd just like to pitch another full season in the big leagues.'' Hall's agent talked to Dodgers executive vice president Fred Claire Fred Claire (b. The Dodgers are not going to allow Hall to be shopped around. ``I can understand where Fred is coming from,'' Hall said. ``If something happens to someone, you can look down at Triple-A and see an experienced pitcher down there. I understand that. It's just hard to take.'' Update: Dodgers president Peter O'Malley
O'Malley also said he ``will do everything I can to keep the Dodgers training in Vero Beach Vero Beach (vēr`o), city (1990 pop. 17,350), seat of Indian River co., E Fla., on Indian River (a lagoon and part of the Intracoastal Waterway); founded c.1888, inc. 1919. . . . .
