Byline: Daily News Staff and Wire Services

The Dodgers avoided arbitration with reliever Guillermo Mota Guillermo Reynoso Mota (born July 25, 1973 in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic) is a Major League Baseball relief pitcher who is currently on the New York Mets.  and signed him to a one-year, $1.475 million contract Wednesday.

Several teams were interested in Mota as a closer and inquired about trades this winter. But general manager Dan Evans resisted because Mota is expected to be the primary setup man after Paul Quantrill
