``I'm very appreciative,'' said Hansen, who has 13 career homers as a pinch-hitter. ``It's good to be back. I'm pretty close to home. It's nice that they (increased the price) of the contract and didn't have to.''

The Dodgers held a $550,000 option for the 2001 season, but after the season Hansen and the club opted to renegotiate re·ne·go·ti·ate
