into a nerve in his back and his availability for the next month, and perhaps the season, in question, the Dodgers say they have no choice but to press on.

Players admit they need him to make a playoff push, and to have postseason success, but there is a quirky, unexplainable phenomenon taking place. The Dodgers are winning in Brown's absence, and have done so all season.

Eric Peter Karros (born November 4, 1967 in Hackensack, New Jersey) is a former American baseball player who played in Major League Baseball from 1991-2004. Karros attended UCLA, where he receieved a degree in economics. Karros played his first MLB game on September 1, 1991.
had a two-run single and Adrian Beltre followed with a three-run homer as the Dodgers won their fourth in a row and seventh of their last eight games. The Dodgers (35-23) have scored 15 runs in the eighth and ninth innings in the first two games of the series.

``The difference in the last three days is Sunday I had four at-bats with guys in scoring position In the sport of baseball, a baserunner is said to be in scoring position when he is on second or third base. The distinction between being on first base and second or third base is that a runner on first can usually only score if the batter hits an extra base hit, while a runner on , (Monday) I had three at-bats with guys in scoring position and (Tuesday) I had three at-bats with guys in scoring position,'' said Karros, who had three RBI RBI

The single reached 27 in the UK in its first week, selling only 9,000 copies and over 16,000 copies as of January 2007. The single spend a total of four weeks in the Top 75.  it this time, you feel that you're still going to have an opportunity or two this game.

``Earlier in the year you'd get your one at-bat with guys in scoring position. If you don't do it, that's all you're going to see. You put a little more pressure on yourself.''

Of course, Karros' single against reliever Todd Jones (0-1) had a bit more drama on this night. With the score tied 4- 4 and the bases loaded, Karros fell behind 0-2. He fouled off the next pitch before singling to right-center field to give the Dodgers a 6-4 lead. Marquis Grissom singled in a run and Beltre hit a three-run homer to make it 10-4.

``That's just a huge inning, and collection of great at-bats by everyone that was involved,'' Dodgers manager Jim Tracy said. ``You can't have any better at-bats than we had in the ninth inning.''

While the Dodgers await word on the severity of Brown's back injury, as well as the swelling in his right elbow, they continue to win in his absence. Brown's been on the disabled list twice, during which the Dodgers are 17-5. They are 18-18 when Brown is on the active roster.

``I know we need him,'' Dodgers pitcher Odalis Perez said. ``We want him here. Even though we have a good pitching staff and we're doing a good job, we need him. We need Brownie. He's the horse. He's the big gun. Right now, maybe we don't need him because we're doing good, but soon he's a guy that we need when it counts.''
