Sunday was different, especially after Young's eighth-inning home run off Denny Neagle
Dennis Edward Neagle Jr. (Born September 13, 1968 in Gambrills, Maryland) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He was last under contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays during the 2005 season, but he did not play due to injury.

It was his second in two games and gave him 14 hits in the Dodgers' nine-game homestand. But in between home runs, Young flied out four times and popped out once.

``Every team I play for, they always get on me about that,'' said Young, who has four this year and 37 in his six-year career. ``They think about it a lot. I guess I do, too. My game usually is keeping the ball on the ground and making things happen.''

Although the Dodgers were 13 for 66 (.197) with runners in scoring position In the sport of baseball, a baserunner is said to be in scoring position when he is on second or third base. The distinction between being on first base and second or third base is that a runner on first can usually only score if the batter hits an extra base hit, while a runner on  during the homestand, Young was not part of the problem, having four consecutive multihit games until going 1 for 4 Sunday.

``This is as good as I have felt in a long time,'' said Young, who has missed 32 starts this year with a strained left thigh. ``This is what we need to get things going, getting me on base.''

Dodgers manager Glenn Hoffman Glenn Edward Hoffman (born July 7 1958 in Orange, California) is a former shortstop in Major League Baseball and the current third base coach for the San Diego Padres. Previously, in 1998 he took over the managerial position for the Los Angeles Dodgers final half of the season when  said he could tell Young went for a bigger swing after homering Saturday in the fifth inning.

``We were saying on the bench that he was starting to pull his front arm out after the first home run,'' Hoffman said. ``But today, he just laid the bat on the ball. It was perfect.''

Quick hits: The Dodgers failed to score in Darren Dreifort's seven innings of work, giving him just 61 runs in 164-1/3 innings (3.34 runs per game), third lowest in the NL.
