DODGERS NOTEBOOK: WHITE ACTIVATED, COULD PROVIDE LEADOFF SPARK.

Byline: Heather Gripp Staff Writer

Devon White's pregame workout was enough to convince the Dodgers he didn't need to wait another day.

Shortly after manager Davey Johnson
David Allen Johnson (born January 30 1943) in Orlando, Florida is a former second baseman and manager in Major League Baseball. Johnson played for the Baltimore Orioles (1965-1972), Atlanta Braves (1973-1975), Philadelphia Phillies (1977-78) and Chicago Cubs (1978).
said he expected White to be activated from the disabled list today, the Dodgers announced that the outfielder was being reinstated before Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants The San Francisco Giants are a Major League Baseball team based in San Francisco, California that currently play in the National League West Division. Previously, Hollandsworth played with the Los Angeles Dodgers (1995-2000), Colorado Rockies (2000-2002), Texas Rangers (2002), Florida Marlins (2003), Chicago Cubs  in center field, he should help solve the Dodgers' search for a leadoff hitter.

The Dodgers' recent search for a spark at the top of the order included a different leadoff hitter for each game of the three-game series against San Francisco. Catcher Paul LoDuca even was used in the top slot Friday.

White, 37, was placed on the disabled list May 5 after partially tearing his left rotator cuff rotator cuff

In his only appearance with the Dodgers, Reyes retired all three batters he faced Saturday.

--A bid to stay: Shortly after learning of White's activation, Hollandsworth did his best to show he deserves to remain in the starting lineup. He ran down a fly ball in the gap by Marvin Benard to start the game, then hit a home run on the first pitch of the bottom half of the first. Hollandsworth, who also singled in the seventh, entered the game batting .236.

--Feeling at home: The Dodgers' win Sunday gave them a 7-4 record on the 11-game homestand, boosting their season record at home to better than .500. For most of the season, the Dodgers have had a winning record on the road, but struggled at home. They depart on a 10-game road trip with winning records at home (26-23) and away (25-23).

The Dodgers play 19 of their final 28 games at home.

--Odds and ends: Catcher Todd Hundley (fractured thumb) is eligible to come off the disabled list today but likely will not be activated for at least another week, according to Johnson. . . . Shawn Green and Gary Sheffield had hitting streaks of six and 12 games respectively snapped Saturday. Both had hits Sunday. . . .
