DODGERS NOTEBOOK: VIZCAINO KNOWS HE'LL SOON BE SITTING AGAIN.

Byline: Brian Dohn Staff Writer

Dodgers shortstop Mark Grudzielanek Mark James Grudzielanek (born June 30, 1970 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a second baseman in Major League Baseball who currently plays for the Kansas City Royals. Previously, Grudzielanek played with the Montreal Expos (1995-1998), Los Angeles Dodgers (1998-2002), Chicago Cubs , out with a broken right hand, is hoping to return in a week or so. Dodgers manager Davey Johnson
David Allen Johnson (born January 30 1943) in Orlando, Florida is a former second baseman and manager in Major League Baseball. Johnson played for the Baltimore Orioles (1965-1972), Atlanta Braves (1973-1975), Philadelphia Phillies (1977-78) and Chicago Cubs (1978).
said it'll probably be two weeks beyond what Grudzielanek thinks.

Jose Vizcaino isn't paying much attention to any of it. Mainly because when Grudzielanek returns to the lineup, Vizcaino expects to return to the bench.

There are no delusions of grandeur Noun 1. delusions of grandeur - a delusion (common in paranoia) that you are much greater and more powerful and influential than you really are
delusion, psychotic belief - (psychology) an erroneous belief that is held in the face of evidence to the contrary
     here.

``The same thing is going to happen again,'' Vizcaino said. ``I'm a professional, so I know he's going to come back and play. Everyone wants to play every day. I have to be positive, so when it's time It's Time was a successful political campaign run by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) under Gough Whitlam at the 1972 election in Australia. Campaigning on the perceived need for change after 23 years of conservative (Liberal Party of Australia) government, Labor put forward a  for me to play, I can do the job.''

Grudzielanek's injury coincided with Vizcaino being activated from the disabled list. Perhaps if Vizcaino hit .300 and performed splendidly in the punchless No. 2 spot of the batting order Noun 1. batting order - (baseball) a list of batters in the order in which they will bat; "the managers presented their cards to the umpire at home plate"

, his feelings would be different.

But since the players passed by each other on the disabled list June 4, Vizcaino is hitting .241 and seen his average dip to .263. He also scored five runs and walked four times in the ensuing 15 games.

However, Vizcaino said he's getting more playing time than he expected because of Johnson's penchant for double switches and Vizcaino's versatility. When Grudzielanek returns, Vizcaino will miss the comfort of knowing he's in the lineup.

``When you play every day, you get in a rhythm, you feel comfortable,'' Vizcaino said. ``You know you can go 0 for 4 and the next day you'll be in the lineup. It's different when you play once a week or twice a week or five times a month.''

Better in the rotation: Johnson and general manager Kevin Malone
:Kevin Malone is also the name of a former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager.

Kevin Malone is a fictional character from the US television series, The Office. He is played by Brian Baumgartner.

It was determined at that time that if Carlos Perez had trouble in his start later that night, Jamie Arnold This article is about the baseball player. Before Dreifort's start, Malone said he and Johnson agreed to the move.

``I want him to be in a role where he can be the most effective,'' Malone said. ``Because of his quality stuff, he can do either (start or relieve). We'll look at continuing to try to develop him as a starter. Right now, from where we're at, I think he needs to be in the rotation.''

Looking ahead: Dodgers right-hander Kevin Brown The name Kevin Brown can refer to several different people, including the following:
      • Kevin Brown (baseball) (b. 1965), a former Major League Baseball right-handed starting pitcher with 211 career wins
      • Kevin D. Brown (b.
will miss the Padres in the three-game series that begins tonight at Dodger Stadium     [ , but he's set to face his former mates when the Dodgers travel to San Diego next week.

Of course, the Padres fans - and their employees - don't figure to be as wild as when Brown pitched there April 16. Brown, who signed a $105 million contract during the offseason, was booed at every movement, except when he was pulled after allowing three runs on nine hits in 6-1/3 innings.

The Padres also selected money-themed music to blare Brown's way throughout the night and several of the Padres' pep team (or whatever they call themselves) smashed a Brown papier-mache pinata with a stick in the stands.

The way the Dodgers rotation is set up this time around, Brown will pitch Friday in San Francisco and next Thursday in San Diego.

      FYI - For Your Information
: A Dodgers win tonight would increase their winning streak to three games, which would be their longest since winning five straight April 27 through May 1. . . . Dodgers left fielder Gary Sheffield (knee) is expected to return to the lineup tonight.

      DODGERS vs. SAN DIEGO

Time: 7:10 p.m., at Dodger Stadium.

      TV/Radio: Fox Sports West 2; 1150-AM, KWKW-AM (1330 Spanish).

Matchup: When these teams met early in the season, Kevin Brown was making an anticipated return to San Diego and general managers Kevin Malone of the Dodgers and Kevin Towers of the Padres were trading barbs barbs

. Not nearly as much hullabaloo surrounds this three-game series because both teams are at the bottom. The Dodgers, winners of two straight for the first time in more than two weeks, send right-hander Chan Ho Park (4-4, 5.26 ERA) to the mound. The Padres start lefty Sterling Hitchcock (4-6, 4.78). The two squared off April 17 with Park allowing three runs on eight hits in five innings to record the win. Hitchcock received a no-decision after pitching five innings of two-run ball. Wednesday - Dodgers RH Ismael Valdes (5-6, 3.60) vs. Padres RH Woody Williams (2-5, 3.76); Thursday - Dodgers RH Darren Dreifort (6-5, 5.96) vs. Padres RH Andy Ashby (6-4, 3.65).
