DODGERS NOTEBOOK: TRACY SETS ROTATION.

Byline: Brian Dohn Staff Writer

SAN DIEGO San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  - Dodgers manager Jim Tracy

against San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden , if necessary.

Perez, who kept the Dodgers' season alive with Thursday's complete-game victory against the Giants, will take his normal turn Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies For the National Hockey League team (1976 – 1982), now known as the New Jersey Devils, see .
The Colorado Rockies are a Major League Baseball team based in Denver, Colorado. They are in the West Division of the National League.
. If a postseason berth is on the line in the Sept. 29 regular-season finale against San Diego, he would get that start.

The Dodgers entered Friday trailing the Giants by a game in the wild-card standings.

``If the game is one that needs to be won in order to put us in the postseason, Odalis would be in that position to pitch that game,'' Tracy said. ``If not, then we have Odalis available and set up to pitch in the division series in one of the first two games.''

Nomo, who has one loss since May 12 and is 11-3 with a 2.63 career ERA against the Giants, will start today against the Padres. He then will start either Wednesday or Thursday and be available to pitch Oct. 1 in San Francisco if a one-game playoff is needed. Nomo is 8-0 with a 1.78 ERA in San Francisco.

The best-of-five division series begins Oct. 2 in Atlanta. The first two games are at Turner Field     [  before moving to either Dodger Stadium     [  or Pac Bell Park.

Tracy is forced into these plans because of the deficiencies of a floundering rotation. The Dodgers lost Kevin Brown The name Kevin Brown can refer to several different people, including the following:
  • Kevin Brown (baseball) (b. 1965), a former Major League Baseball right-handed starting pitcher with 211 career wins
  • Kevin D. Brown (b.

Only Nomo and Perez are reliable at this point. They are a combined 6-1 with a 3.08 ERA this month. The rest of the Dodgers' starters have combined for one victory this month.

Tracy added it is possible that, under dire circumstances, Perez and Nomo could pitch the final two days of the regular season on short rest if needed.

--Feud continues: After several Giants relievers blasted Dodgers security for what they perceived was a lack of control in the visitor's bullpen during Thursday's game at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers conducted an investigation into the complaints and deemed them overblown o·ver·blown

Dodgers senior vice president Derrick Hall said he spoke with, among others, vice president of stadium operations Doug Duennes and security director Roy Sukimoto about the incident, in which Giants relievers Jason Christiansen and Scott Eyre alleged fans pelted them with peanuts most of the night.

``You can chalk this one up to exaggeration,'' Hall said. ``The same security guard was in the bullpen with them that is always there. If there was truly a problem, he would have seen it first and done something about it. Or if he had not seen it, (the players) would have told him about and he would have taken care of the matter.''

Hall said interviews revealed two separate disturbances were quelled promptly, and twice fans in the bullpen area were ejected for unruly behavior. He disputed Christiansen's claim ``there was one security lady down there and she was overwhelmed.'' Hall said more security was dispatched to the bullpen area after the first incident.

``From the facts that we got, it became very clear to us that the players in the bullpen didn't make it any easier on themselves by shouting back and allegedly name-calling at the fans,'' Hall said.

--Odds and ends: Left fielder Brian Jordan had an injection in his right wrist Wednesday to alleviate pain but remains in the lineup. ... Shawn Green entered the night having scored a run in 11 consecutive games, the longest streak since by a Dodger since Davey Lopes scored in 11 consecutive games from May 7-18, 1979. ... Dodgers center fielder Dave Roberts was tied for the league lead with 45 stolen bases but was thrown out attempting to steal in the fifth inning with the Dodgers trailing 6-3.
