DODGERS NOTEBOOK: STAMINA IN SEPTEMBER PLEASES.

Byline: Matt McHale Daily News Staff Writer

Chan Ho Park said after Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers that he doesn't care about who the Dodgers' No. 1 pitcher is next season.

Amid clubhouse speculation that the Dodgers must make offseason bids for free agents Kevin Brown The name Kevin Brown can refer to several different people, including the following:
  • Kevin Brown (baseball) (b. 1965), a former Major League Baseball right-handed starting pitcher with 211 career wins
  • Kevin D. Brown (b.

to stabilize their young staff, Park said the best part of his career-high 15 victories this season is the four that came in September.

``Personally, I don't care

about that other stuff,'' said Park, who allowed eight hits and one run in six innings. ``For myself and the team, I am happiest with the way I pitched at the end of the season. That shows that my stamina has improved and that I can give this team 200 innings.''

Park gave them 220-2/3 innings, the most by far in his four-year career. He went 192 last season when he tied Hideo Nomo Hideo Nomo

for the club lead with 14 victories.

In 1997, Park went 8-1 during July and August, but went 1-2 with a 5.11 ERA in September when the Dodgers were in the middle of a tight division race.

``Whatever happens, they now know they can depend on me to give them innings,'' Park said.

Although the season ended Sunday, Park isn't done pitching. He was scheduled to participate in an eight-game All-Star series next month in Japan and represent Korea at the Asian Games The Asian Games, also called the Asiad, is a multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The games are regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) under the supervision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  in December. The Dodgers are saying that is too much and Park is considering dropping out of the All-Star tournament despite a $83,000 pay day.

If Korea wins the Asian Games, Park will be excused from military service.

``This might be the final chance I get to represent my country,'' he said.

left for home outside Cincinnati at 11 p.m. Sunday and it's not certain if he'll be back.

``All I can say is I'll be taking my son to school tomorrow,'' said Shaw, who recorded his 48th save in Sunday's victory. ``I haven't made up my mind what I'm going to do other than that.''

Shaw, 32, has 15 days after the end of the World Series to demand a trade from the Dodgers, who acquired him at the All-Star break. Because he was traded in the middle of a multi-year contract, he has that leverage. He signed a four-year contract with Cincinnati before the season that pays $2.8 million in each of the next three seasons.

``There's a little bit of satisfaction because of the way the Mets season ended,'' Pulsipher said after the Mets were swept this weekend in Atlanta. ``I think they might have mishandled me a little bit. I think that before Bobby Valentine came over, I was expected to do big things for the organization. But once he came over there, that kind of went out the window. I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)
