DODGERS NOTEBOOK: SCULLY AWARD GETS FAN OVATION LONG-TIME VOICE OF DODGERS NAMED `SPORTSCASTER OF THE CENTURY'.

It was Fan Appreciation Day at Dodger Stadium     [  on Sunday. In case the fans couldn't appreciate the Dodgers' play this season, the Dodgers gave them something they could.

Vincent Edward "Vin" Scully (born November 29, 1927, in The Bronx, New York) is an American sportscaster, known primarily as the play-by-play voice of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball teams.
 in a pregame ceremony that drew a bigger ovation than that of any player. Scully, the voice of the Dodgers for 51 years, was honored as the American Sportscaster Association's Sportscaster of the Century.

``I'm happy, I'm honored and I'm somewhat overwhelmed,'' Scully told the fans.

He was presented with a silver bat from Louisville Slugger, the first issued to anyone other than a major-league player.

It was the second significant honor bestowed on Scully this year. He received an honorary doctorate degree from Fordam University in June.

Scully, 72, was inducted into the ASA Hall Asa Hall (born November 29, 1986)[1] is an English footballer who is currently on loan to Boston United from Birmingham City. He was handed a professional contract at the beginning of season. He attended Bishop Milner Catholic School in Dudley.2005-06.  of Fame in 1992, 10 years after he was inducted into the broadcasters wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He has called three perfect games, 18 no-hitters, 12 All-Star games and 25 World Series.
