DODGERS NOTEBOOK: MARTIN TAKES THE CALL.

Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Staff Writer

It was another day of roster flux for the ailing Dodgers Friday.

First, catcher Dioner Navarro Dioner Favian Navarro (born February 9, 1984 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball catcher and switch-hitter who plays for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Career

He was replaced by Triple-A catcher Russ Martin Russ Martin (born October 4, 1960) is an American radio personality in Dallas, Texas. In addition, the team opted to put pitcher Odalis Perez on the bereavement Bereavement Definition

The capital and largest city is Santo Domingo. . Perez, scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Brewers, will be out a minimum of three days and a maximum seven.

That allows the Dodgers to add a pitcher without making a move on the 25-man roster. Although they didn't officially name a replacement starter, there was strong speculation that Aaron Sele Aaron Helmer Sele (born June 25, 1970 in Golden Valley, Minnesota) is an MLB right-handed pitcher who plays for the New York Mets.

His family moved to Poulsbo, Washington, a Scandinavian town on the Kitsap Peninsula, where Aaron pitched for North Kitsap High School.
 will get the call.

Sele was at his Orange County home Friday, and there were unconfirmed reports he was at Dodger Stadium. The 13-year veteran pitched effectively for the Dodgers in spring training then accepted a job in Triple-A with the hope of returning to the big leagues sometime this year.

Now might be that time. Sele is 3-0 with a 2.43 ERA in Las Vegas.

Whoever it is, Dodgers GM Ned Colletti indicated it would be for more than just a one-game stint.

``I hope so,'' Colletti said.

If so, the struggling Perez could find himself pitching out of the bullpen when he returns.

Perez was expected back in town Saturday, although no one from the organization has been able to get in touch with Perez since for the Dominican Republic Wednesday morning. Dodgers assistant GM Kim Ng has been in contact with Perez's representatives, but that's been the extent of their contact.

Asked if he was disturbed by the lack of communication, Dodgers manager Grady Little did not mince words.

``Very,'' Little said.

Martin got the callup at 8:30 a.m. Friday in his hotel room in Salt Lake City.

``Best wake-up call ever,'' a smiling Martin said before making his Major League debut. Martin was hitting .297 in Las Vegas.

--Mueller update: Third baseman Bill Mueller was out of the line up resting his ailing right knee. Mueller injured the knee Wednesday, then tweaked it during Thursday's game against San Diego.

``I don't expect it to be a long term thing,'' Little said.
