The possibility that Hong-Chih Kuo Hong-Chih Kuo (Traditional Chinese: 郭泓志; pinyin: Guō Hóngzhì) (born July 23, 1981 in Tainan City, Taiwan) is a Major League Baseball pitcher with the Los Angeles Dodgers.  will replace Mark Hendrickson Mark Allan Hendrickson (born June 23, 1974 in Mount Vernon, Washington, U.S.) is an American professional athlete and is one of just 10 athletes to play in both Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association.  in the Dodgers' rotation greatly increased Wednesday when Kuo was recalled from Triple-A to replace reliever Tim Hamulack Timothy William Hamulack (nickname "The Hammer" born November 14, 1976 in Ithaca, New York) is a MLB relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Kuo, who made the major-league roster coming out of spring training and went 0-4 with a 5.60 ERA, has been working as a starter in the minors and had a 2.61 ERA in nine starts with the Las Vegas 51s The Las Vegas 51s (formerly the Las Vegas Stars) are a minor league baseball team. They are the AAA affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. They play at Cashman Field (capacity 9,334) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The team competes in the Pacific Coast League. .

Kuo, a 25-year-old left-hander whose development has been slowed by injuries, was available out of the bullpen Wednesday but is a prime candidate to take Hendrickson's rotation spot on Tuesday.

Hamulack, who had a 5.90 ERA in 27 appearances, should be recalled next week after rosters expand. He had pitched 4 1/3 innings in the previous four days, so Kuo provides a fresh arm.

After his poor outing Tuesday, Hendrickson is on the verge On the Verge (or The Geography of Yearning) is a play written by Eric Overmyer. Manager Grady Little William Grady Little (born March 30, 1950 in Abilene, Texas) is a manager in Major League Baseball. He guided the Boston Red Sox from 2002 to 2003, and has been manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers since 2006.  didn't downplay the possibility when asked if Hendrickson would make his next start.

``He certainly had a bad game again (Tuesday) night,'' Little said. ``I'm not really sure what we're going to do with that. We've been having trouble scoring runs with him on the mound. (Tuesday) night we scored a few runs early but it wasn't enough to hold up very long.''

Hendrickson has a 5.07 ERA with the Dodgers and allowed four runs in four innings Tuesday.

Other candidates include Aaron Sele, who replaced Hendrickson and allowed one run in two innings, and David Wells, if the Dodgers can pull off a trade with Boston.

If Wells is to join the Dodgers -- Boston initially asked for a group of prospects, including outfielder Matt Kemp -- it will have to happen before 9 p.m. (PDT PDT

Wells is scheduled to pitch for Boston today, but the Red Sox scratched starter Lenny DiNardo from his scheduled rehab start Wednesday, which fueled speculation that DiNardo might take Wells' place.

of the Dodgers' 6-5 victory over Cincinnati in 16 innings Tuesday carried over to Wednesday, with Derek Lowe's effort inspiring the most awe.

Lowe tossed three shutout innings for the victory, even though a sore left thumb had put into question his ability to make his scheduled start Friday. Lowe said he volunteered to pitch, since the Dodgers desperately wanted to rest Brett Tomko and Jonathan Broxton. Lowe threw only 22 pitches and will start Friday.

The thumb remains enough of an issue, though, that Lowe was resigned to not swinging in a 14th inning at-bat against Bill Bray. Lowe walked on five pitches.

``I kept telling (catcher Jason) LaRue that I wasn't going to swing, but I guess I looked hitterish'' Lowe said, ``I had no intention of swinging but when you're hitting (.093) you put the fear of God in people. ... He could have thrown three down the middle and I would have gotten booed and walked away.''

How wacky was the game? With the Dodgers out of position players, Little said his next option would have been to put 40-year-old starter Greg Maddux in the outfield.

Big year: The Dodgers have sold enough tickets to their final 13 home games to ensure that they will break their single-season attendance record of 3,608,881, set in 1982.
