Anthony (Antonio) Jackson, best known as Tony Jackson Staff Writer Dodgers shortstop Cesar Izturis spoke publicly Saturday for the first time since learning he would need season-ending Tommy John surgery Tommy John surgery, known by doctors as ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction (or UCL), is a surgical procedure in which a ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with a tendon from elsewhere in the body (often from the forearm, hamstring, knee, or foot of the on his right elbow, a procedure that is expected to sideline him until sometime around next year's All-Star break. ``I was in shock when I found out,'' said Izturis, an NL Gold Glove winner in 2004. ``It's bad, but I have to do it.
