DODGERS NOTEBOOK: GOODBYE TO GOODWIN, TROMBLEY.

Byline: Heather Gripp Staff Writer

The Dodgers careers of outfielder Tom Goodwin
Thomas Jones Goodwin (born July 27, 1968 in Fresno, California) is a former Major League Baseball player. He attended Central Union High School in Fresno, and then went on to play for Fresno State University. He is currently the manager of the Lewisville Lizards.

When a player is designated for assignment, he is immediately removed from the club's 40-man roster.  and have said they would refuse minor-league assignments, leaving the Dodgers eating approximately $6 million in guaranteed pay between the two.

The moves were made after the Dodgers' 6-2 victory over Cleveland in an exhibition game at Dodger Stadium     [ .

Outfielder McKay Christensen McKay Christensen (Born August 14, 1975) in Upland, California, is a Major League Baseball outfielder.

Christensen played for three different ballclubs during his career: the Chicago White Sox (1999-2001), Los Angeles Dodgers (2001), and New York Mets (2002).
was among those remaining as the roster was cut to 25 players for Saturday's 9 p.m. deadline, but Dodgers officials said additional changes are likely before Tuesday's season opener at home against San Francisco.

``We're not finished,'' said manager Jim Tracy, not wanting to go into details about further moves.

``We are likely going to alter our roster before one o'clock Tuesday,'' general manager Dan Evans said.

The Dodgers, who have 10 days to try to trade Goodwin and Trombley, spent the spring looking to deal both but had no takers. If a trade can't be worked out, the players would be released unconditionally and teams could sign them for the league minimum of $200,000, leaving the Dodgers to pay the remainder of contracts that include options for next season. The minor leagues also would be an option if the players cleared waivers, but they would have to agree to such an assignment.

``Absolutely not,'' Trombley said of playing in the minors. ``I'd rather be sitting at home.''

Trombley, 34, had struggled since being acquired in a trade with Baltimore at last season's trading deadline. The right-hander was 0-4 with a 6.56 ERA in 19 games with the team last year. He was 0-0 with a 3.27 ERA in 10 spring games.

``I wasn't surprised,'' Trombley said of the move. ``I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. I wish it would have happened earlier so I don't have to go home and sit and wait.''

``They're the only ones that need to know how I feel,'' Goodwin said. ``I'm just going to move on. What's done is done. They know how I feel. If we wanted you in there, you would have been invited.''

--More transactions on the way: Left-hander Jesse Orosco and utility player Mike Kinkade are not on the 25-man roster but remained with the team because they are nonroster invitees who have signed minor-league contracts.

Orosco, who pitched a perfect inning of relief Saturday, is expected to make the team. Kinkade, challenging Hiram Bocachica to be the right-handed hitter off the bench, likely is headed to the minors since Bocachica is out of minor-league options.
