DODGERS NOTEBOOK: ANTHONY LOOKS AHEAD, RELISHES GOOD FORTUNE.

Byline: Kevin Acee Daily News Staff Writer

Eric Anthony Eric Todd Anthony (born November 8, 1967, in San Diego, California) was a Major League Baseball outfielder.

Drafted by the Houston Astros in the 34th round of the 1986 MLB amateur draft, Anthony would make his Major League Baseball debut with the Houston Astros on July 28,
wants to look forward. He knows his mistakes. He also knows he is fortunate.

``Obviously, this has worked out,'' said Anthony, who arrived Tuesday from Triple-A Albuquerque to replace the injured Brett Butler Brett Butler can refer to different people:

on the Dodgers' 25-man roster. ``It happened pretty quickly. I'm happy I'm a Dodger now.

``It means everything. As far as I'm concerned, when I'm done playing, when I look back, I can say I was a Dodger. No matter what, nobody can take that away.''

Anthony spent spring training with the Minnesota Twins The Minnesota Twins are a professional baseball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Twins are a member of the Central Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From to the present, the Twins have played in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. . When it became obvious he wasn't going to fit in their plans, he was granted a release. He played a few weeks at Triple-A Oklahoma City Oklahoma City (1990 pop. 444,719), state capital, and seat of Oklahoma co., central Okla., on the North Canadian River; inc. 1890. The state's largest city, it is an important livestock market, a wholesale, distribution, industrial, and financial center, and a farm  before making what might have been a disastrous mistake. When the Rangers passed him over for promotion, he left Oklahoma City. Just quit. When he asked to come back, he was told not to bother.

``The way I left, it wasn't a very professional thing to do on my part. It's something I'd like to forget,'' said Anthony, who sat out about a week before signing with Albuquerque. He was 6 for 21 with three doubles in five games with the Dukes.

Reasons: The decision to purchase Anthony's contract from Albuquerque rather than call up hot prospects Karim Garcia or Roger Cedeno was a fairly easy one for the Dodgers.

Anthony has six years major-league experience and is suited for a utility role. Garcia and Cedeno are in Triple-A for the purpose of getting experience.

``We need someone who can come off our bench and not someone who we want to see play on a daily basis,'' Dodgers executive vice president Fred Claire Fred Claire (b. All over: Todd Hollandsworth Todd Mathew Hollandsworth (born April 20, 1973 in Dayton, Ohio) is an outfielder in Major League Baseball. Previously, Hollandsworth played with the Los Angeles Dodgers (1995-2000), Colorado Rockies (2000-2002), Texas Rangers (2002), Florida Marlins (2003), Chicago Cubs , who batted leadoff Wednesday in the absence of both Brett Butler and Wilton Guerrero, is truly the nomad nomad (nō`măd'), one of a group of people without fixed habitation, especially pastoralists. He has batted everywhere but third, fourth and ninth.

``I've done it my whole career,'' he said. ``I've always seemed to fit that role. I'll go anywhere I'm needed in the outfield or in the lineup. I look at it as an asset.''

Tough spot: Eddie Williams had to know it was going to happen that way. A little more than 24 hours after he was summoned off first base in Edmonton and told he had been called up by the Dodgers, Williams was batting in Dodger Stadium - with two out in the 11 inning, the Dodgers trailing 3-2, runners on first and third and the crowd chanting ``Eddie, Eddie.''

He flied out to second base to end the game.

Williams slept but a few minutes Monday night and got a 3:15 a.m. (2:15 PDT PDT
