    Wilson Eduardo Alvarez Fuenmayor (born March 24, 1970 in Maracaibo, Zulia State, Venezuela) is a former Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher who played in 13 seasons for the Texas Rangers (1989), Chicago White Sox (1991–1997), San Francisco Giants (1997), Tampa
     apparently has made his final start for the Dodgers.

    The veteran left-hander, who was scheduled for a third start Saturday night against Milwaukee, was diagnosed Thursday with shoulder tendinitis and will work exclusively out of the bullpen whenever he is able to return, which club officials are hopeful will be sometime during the weekend.

    Alvarez was filling the rotation spot of Odalis Perez, who is on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder soreness and doesn't appear close to returning. Rookie D.J. Houlton, who has made 13 appearances out of the bullpen and has a 7.41 ERA, will start Saturday's game. His longest outing of the season was two innings, which he has done three times.

    ``He can go 70 or 80 (pitches),'' Tracy said. ``He has been throwing regular (side sessions).''
