The Dodgers reached into their past Thursday Thursday: see week.  to fill a key post in new general manager Dan Evans' front office, hiring former Angels and Astros manager Terry Collins as minor-league field coordinator.

``It's great to be a part of the organization again,'' Collins said. ``I've always said that I owe being in baseball today to the Dodgers.''

Collins will work closely with Bill Bavasi William J. Bavasi (born December 27, 1957, Pasadena, California) is the current general manager and vice president of baseball operations for the Seattle Mariners. The son of longtime Major League Baseball executive Buzzie Bavasi and the brother of Peter Bavasi, also a former MLB , the former Angels GM who was brought in earlier this week as director of player development, and John Boles John Boles may refer to:

Together they will try to rehabilitate re·ha·bil·i·tate

``It's difficult to say (what's been wrong with the system) because I wasn't around,'' Collins said. ``I can tell you that I've always considered the Dodgers organization the best in baseball and that our goal from this point forward is to get the farm system back to where it once was.''
