DODGERS' WILD RIDE OFFENSIVE OUTBURST GIVES THEM EASY WIN OVER ANGELS.

spent nine hours at Disneyland on Thursday.

On one of the few days off he's gotten since joining the Dodgers last month, he wanted to do something special with his wife.

``So we took in a long day at Disneyland,'' he said. ``Just me and her.''

After the performance he had Friday night against the Angels, he might want to add the Magic Kingdom to his normal routine.

Ethier had five hits, including a home run, and three RBIs to lead the Dodgers to 16-3 victory over the Angels in front of a sellout crowd of 55,655 at Dodger Stadium     [ .

The victory, the Dodgers 10th in their past 13 games, moved them two games over .500 (22-20) for the first time this year.

Ethier had a chance for a sixth hit in the eighth inning, but he flied out to center field. But in a play that typified his magical night, it went down as a sacrifice because J.D. Drew scored from third base.

``It's one of those things where you really don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

You're just thinking about the task at hand.''

His teammates were rooting for one more hit.

``Talk about being locked in, wow,'' said catcher Russell Martin

, who had three hits and three RBIs. ``He put on a show.''

It was that kind of night for the Dodgers, who sent team officials scurrying scur·ry

to the media guide to cross-check team records. The Dodgers stroked a Los Angeles-record 25 hits, three less than the team-record 28 the Brooklyn Dodgers accomplished twice.

Ethier's five hits were the most for a Dodger since Oscar Robles' five in a game last season.

The 16 runs equals their output against the Giants April 20, 2003. The nine runs they scored in the sixth inning were the most since plating 10 in the first inning against the Reds on May 5 last season. The nine hits they had in the sixth were the most they've had in a single inning since getting 10 against St. Louis in 1990.

Among the other notable marks included the 10 different Dodgers who had base hits, nine of whom had multi-hit games. The Dodgers scored at least one run in seven of eight innings. Ethier, Martin, Willy Aybar Willy Del Jesus Aybar (born March 9, 1983 in Bani, Dominican Republic), is an infielder in Major League Baseball under contract with the Atlanta Braves. ``It doesn't happen often, but sometimes you just get on a roll,'' Martin said.

Ethier agreed.

``People wonder if the ball gets really big, but it's still pretty small,'' he said. ``You just feel good up there.''

Lost in the offensive explosion was the strong pitching performance from starter Aaron Sele Aaron Helmer Sele (born June 25, 1970 in Golden Valley, Minnesota) is an MLB right-handed pitcher who plays for the New York Mets.

Sele gave up two runs in the first inning on a home run by Vladimir Guerrero, but after that he settled down to retire 12 straight batters.

As much as he enjoyed his pitching performance, he enjoyed the offensive explosion in the sixth inning even more.

``That was fun to watch,'' Sele said.

It wasn't much fun for the reeling Angels, who have now lost 10 of 15 to fall a season-high eight games below .500. Starter Jeff Weaver couldn't make it out of the fifth inning, giving up four runs and 11 hits.

Relievers Esteban Yan and J.C. Romero combined to give up nine hits and nine runs in just one inning.

``We're burning the midnight oil trying to find solutions as a staff and trying to turn over every stone we can,'' manager Mike Scioscia said. ``As frustrating as it is for us to watch, as frustrating for our organization, the players obviously are feeling the brunt of that frustration. They need to get into their game and start playing it. There are some holes in our lineup. That's obvious right now with some guys out. Every team has those issues.''
