DODGERS' PORTER HONORED FOR CAREER.

Ross Porter Ross Porter may refer to:

, whose 28-year run as a radio and TV broadcaster with the Dodgers is rumored to be over when his contract expires at the end of this month, will be inducted into the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Sports Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame next January.

``It's a nice honor and I appreciate that it comes from my peers,'' Porter said Thursday from his home in Calabasas. ``That means a lot.''

Vin Scully, Jerry Doggett, Don Drysdale and Jamie Jarin are Dodgers broadcasters who have have already been inducted in the SCSBA SCSBA South Carolina School Boards Association  hall. Tom Kelly, the longtime USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  broadcaster, will join Porter as an inductee for the Jan. 31 ceremony.

Porter says he has heard nothing new about his job status. Dodgers owners Frank and Jamie McCourt have said recently in radio interviews that Lon Rosen, the team's executive vice president of marketing and media, will make the call on Porter's future.

Sensing he may have called his last game for the team that hired him in 1977, Porter thanked the fans listening to Saturday's Dodgers-Cardinals NLDS NLDS National League Division Series
