DOD to require e-payment.


The Defense Department plans to require contractors to submit requests for payment in electronic form beginning Oct. 1.

The 2001 Defense Authorization Act ordered the department to process contractor payments electronically. A proposed rule was published in the May 31 Federal Register to implement the law.

The rule identifies three electronic forms that may be used: the Web Invoicing System (https://ecweb.dfas.mil An Internet address domain name for a military agency. See Internet address.

(networking) mil - The top-level domain for entities affiliated with US armed forces.
); Wide Area WorkFlow The automatic routing of documents to the users responsible for working on them. Workflow is concerned with providing the information required to support each step of the business cycle.  Receipts and Acceptance (https://rmb.ogden.disa.mil); and electronic data exchange formats (http://www.dfas.mil/ecedi).

A contracting officer A US military officer or civilian employee who has a valid appointment as a contracting officer under the provisions of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. The individual has the authority to enter into and administer contracts and determinations as well as findings about such contracts.  would be permitted to authorize To empower another with the legal right to perform an action.

The Constitution authorizes Congress to regulate interstate commerce.
