DOCTORS' CHOICE 5 AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS BY HOSPITAL.

Byline: Daily News

Five students were presented with scholarships from doctors associated with Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital on June 10 as part of a quarterly staff meeting.

Amanda Antonino, Daniel Diaz, Maher Salahi, Briana Simon and Valerie Ware all received $500 scholarships and praise from the local doctors, who encouraged them to pursue their dreams.

``These students really exemplify academic achievement,'' said Floyd Katske, chief of staff. ``We want them to continue on with their goals and accomplish their desires.''

Dr. Vincent Assomull, chairman of the hospital's board of directors and treasurer of the medical staff, was impressed with the students and pleased with their strong desires to continue their education at the collegiate level.

``Students are our future and we should do anything we can do to help them along,'' Assomull said. ``Some of the students here will perhaps one day take our place.''
