cadalist-enterprises llc, announced today the release of version 2.0 of its DOCTAR(TM) - Design Object Compare Tool and Reporter Software. DOCTAR is used validate design changes throughout the hardware board design and manufacturing lifecycle. In this new release, DOCTAR analyzes changes to both the physical and logical elements in the design database.

Customer updates and evaluation copies are available for immediate download at www.cad-e.com.

Test point analysis includes test points that have been moved, added, deleted, or reprogrammed (used on a new net); nets with multiple test points, nets with no test points, and probe locations that require software changes because of net renames or merges. DOCTAR highlights any current test probe A test probe (test lead, test prod) is a physical device used to connect electronic test equipment to the device under test (DUT). They range from very simple, rugged devices to complex probes that are sophisticated, expensive, and fragile.  located within 100 mils of a deleted test point to help prevent potential problems when reworking the fixture.

DOCTAR also reports component adds/deletes, moves, and renames, renamed nets, single pin networks, changed packages, pin lists, package tolerances and values.

"On the very first job we ran, DOCTAR caught 3 changes that had been missed on a previously ECO'd schematic," says Roger Curry, the Design Manager at Adtran Inc., a leading telecommunications products company. "I am glad we ran that tool. If we had re-spun that board without those changes, it would caused big problems in production, not to mention the loss of time and the cost of fabricating thousands of boards over again."

DOCTAR is used for hardware design and sub-design reviews, ECO E·co   , Umberto Born 1932.
