DMC Becomes the Voice for Bone Marrow Donor CenterWhen dirty south rapper Nelly’s late sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" Donahue, was diagnosed with Leukemia, DMC decided he would become a donor. “She [Nelly’s sister] said she asked so many celebrities, and so many athletes and so many people that call themselves Nelly’s friends, and they didn’t show up,” explained DMC, who's been a faithful donor ever since. “The reason why I really wanted to get involved in this is because DKMS is in the business of helping people and what better way to help a person than saving a life?” Instead of promoting his new album, Checks, Thugs and Rock n Roll, due to drop next month, DMC was dropping knowledge at New York City’s Hard Rock Cafe last week (Feb. 13th) on what people can do to help those diagnosed with Leukemia and other blood diseases. “I’m turning the music off for a second to tell the people,” he stated. "I’m here as a person.” DKMS hopes that with the help of the hip hop icon, and a slew of other celebrities including Jennifer Lopez among others, they will save more lives than ever before. They've recently partenered up with Harley Davidson, who's donated a motorcycle to be signed by celebrities and auctioned off on E-bay. All proceeds will go to the DKMS foundation. Have a news tip?
