 Dave Plotkin was driving with a friend to work Sept. 11 when they saw the second World Trade Center tower collapse.

``There was so much smoke and dust in the air you could hardly breathe. It was unbelievable,'' he said. ``One of my friends is a police officer with asthma, and she almost didn't make it out of there. Many of my friends and other people didn't make it out. That makes you go through a lot of emotions. It really got to me.''

Only people who saw it can imagine the devastation, he said.

Synopsis
. There was debris all over, and people were everywhere, running and scared, as emergency crews tried to get in to buried areas to bring out as many survivors as possible,'' he said. ``I'll never forget it. The memory will probably haunt me as long as I live.''

Plotkin was in Palmdale recently with big band leader Pat Longo and vocal trio The Goils leader Diane Michelle for Loren Dexheimer's ``Drive Time With Dexter'' at radio station KWJL-AM (1380).

Longo's big band will perform for Dexheimer's second annual ``Swingin' Valentine'' production Feb. 14 at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. , along with The Goils - Michelle, Lauren Leeder and Suzanne Wallach.

Lovers' holiday celebrated on February 14, the feast day of St. Valentine, one of two 3rd-century Roman martyrs of the same name. St.
 show will also star the Golden Age All Stars, featuring pianist Ray Sherman and singer Murray Ross.

Vocalist Beverly Jensen will sing with the All Stars as well as with Longo's Super Big Band.

Dexheimer will be the master of ceremonies and play the drums with the Golden Agers.

The Goils have toured 14 years around the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and in Japan. They favor the melodies of the '30s, '40s and '50s, and will sing many of the World War II songs made famous by the Andrews Sisters.

``But we don't just do the Andrews Sisters exclusively,'' said Michelle. ``We try to sing in a lot of styles, including three-part harmony.''
