DIVISION IV-AA: SACRED HEART COMES CLOSE BUT CAN'T CATCH MARYMOUNT MARYMOUNT 3, FLINT. SH 0.
LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE - Flintridge Sacred Heart's girl's volleyball season started on a somewhat down note, when the Tologs lost their opener to highly touted Marymount, 3-1.
A few months later, Flintridge Sacred Heart (16-3) faced top-seeded Marymount with not only a chance for redemption but a berth in the Southern Section Division IV-AA finals.
Once again, however, good fortune avoided Flintridge Sacred Heart as Marymount (29-4) posted a 15-10, 19-17, 15-12 victory over the Tologs Tuesday night.
Flintridge Sacred Heart had its chances in game two, as it served four times for game point.
After losing game two, the Tologs were flat in the early stages of game three.
``An opponent goes up, 2-0, on you, you've lost a close match, those things just add up in volleyball,'' Tologs coach Nancy Tinkham said.
Jaclyn Cuevas had 18 kills and 28 digs for Flintridge Sacred Heart, while Jillian Davis added 16 kills and 10 digs.
Terren O'Reilly had 28 kills for Marymount.
