DIVIO LICENSES PC CAMERA CHIP TECHNOLOGY TO LEADING TAIWAN IC MAKER.

Divio Inc., has licensed two separate backend solutions for digital camera designs, the NW800 and NW820, to Taiwan-based ELAN Microelectronics Corp. Also included is full software driver support for both designs. ELAN will incorporate the NW800 and NW820 designs in new silicon based solutions for consumer digital camera products.

The NW800 CIF PCAM single-chip solution features high-quality video compression technology to drive next-generation video applications like video conferencing, video email, chat, real-time site monitoring, security and surveillance over the Internet. The NW820, a backend solution for VGA dual mode cameras, provides innovative features such as a TV-out port and 30 fps operation at 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution over a standard USB connection when tethered to a PC. When un-tethered, an NW820-based camera operates as a Digital Still Camera (DSC) and can capture vibrant Web-ready still images at 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution.

Divio's NW800 uses the high-quality proprietary JPEG-Lite video compression algorithm, while the NW820 is based on the company's patented MJPEG algorithm. Both are designed to enable consumer electronics OEMs to provide attractive price/performance products.
