This might not be the same Flintridge Prep of La Canada that was one of the area's best small-school teams during the regular season.

The postseason version might actually be better.

``We're a better team defensively, and we're definitely more balanced on offense,'' Konrad said.

The Rebels' play in a 27-14 victory over Campbell Hall at Birmingham High supported their coach's assertion.

Flintridge Prep (10-1) advances to the semifinals for the second time in three years, and will play Marshall of Pasadena next Saturday at a site to be determined.

The Rebels haven't been to a Southern Section championship game since 1995 and haven't won a title since 1991.

Flintridge Prep scored on its next two possessions, when T.C. Scotton scored on rushing touchdowns of 3 and 6 yards to make it 14-3.

Scotton rushed for 140 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries, and Jeff Yun rushed for 61 yards on four carries, including a 41-yard run that set up Scotton's first TD.
