Apparently, Southern Section championships can have that effect.

Kackert finished his career with 131 touchdowns.

``It's an honor to be close to (the record), but this has been my goal ever since I started playing football,'' Kackert said. ``It's a great feeling. It's awesome.''

Tiny Grace Brethren (13-1) won its first 11-man title just three years removed from playing 8-man ball.

The Lancers, who played in the Div. XIII championship game in 2002, have won two titles (they won an 8-man title in 1999) since the program's inception in 1993.

The Lancers set the tone early with Kackert carrying five times including on a six-play 70-yard drive he capped with a four-yard scoring run.

``We wanted to get up first because we have eight two-way starters and we wanted our guys to have that confidence so that when they started to tackle the (Delaware) Wing-T (offense) they weren't worried that it was 0-0 and anything weird was happening so they had a little bit of a cushion,'' Grace Brethren coach Terry Gourley said.

Wing-T exceptionally well, holding the Knights scoreless until late in the third quarter, when they scored on a double-reverse pass from just outside the goal line.

By then, Grace Brethren led 34-0.

``They were so disciplined''' Gourley said, ``and not taking anything away from Ontario Christian, but if a team has run a double-reverse on you on fourth-and-one from the goal line, that's a good defense.''

The Lancers took a 26-0 lead into halftime on two scoring runs by quarterback Ricky Elmore (from the 14 and the 5) and a 55-yard Kackert touchdown run late in the half.

Ontario Christian quarterback Lance Cromer left the game with an apparent concussion concussion

Cromer lost the ball at the Knights' 30, and Elmore's twin brother Cory recovered the fumble and returned it for his first career touchdown.

``We couldn't' block and we couldn't tackle (Kackert), '' Ontario Christian coach Laing Stevens said. ``They're just a better team.''
