DIV. IV BOYS' HOOPS: C. HALL CHOPS S.J. MEMORIAL DOWN TO SIZE VIKINGS PEAK IN 2ND HALF, REACH FINAL C. HALL 65, S.J. MEMORIAL 42.

FULLERTON - To get to Sacramento, the Campbell Hall Campbell Hall can refer to:

It came in the form of twin 6-foot-11 towers Brook and Robin Lopez of San Joaquin San Joaquin (săn wäkēn`), river, c.320 mi (510 km) long, rising in the Sierra Nevada, E Calif., and flowing W then N through the S Central Valley to form a large delta with the Sacramento River near Suisun Bay, an arm of San Francisco Bay.  Memorial of Fresno, and it took the Vikings' full efforts to finally reach the top.

But reach the top the Vikings did, thanks in part to a pivotal 17-point run in the second half, in a stirring 65-42 victory in the Div. The Vikings are trying to become the first team in the region to finished undefeated since Glendale in 1985.

As far as wins for Campbell Hall, none came harder than Saturday's.

Maybe not on the scoreboard - the Vikings have had closer calls this year - but certainly in terms of the imposing physical challenge presented by the Lopez brothers, a pair of gifted juniors who already have committed to Stanford.

Ironically, their older brother, Alex, went to Campbell Hall in the mid- 1990's and led the Vikings to Southern Section championships in 1992 and 1994. At the time, Brook and Robin were a pair of toddlers running around the Campbell Hall gym while Alex played for the Vikings.

Early on, the twins owned the middle of the paint defensively, clogging the inside with their height and swatting away shots with the long arms and well-timed leaps.

On the other end, when they weren't going right at the basket for layups, they were passing out of double teams to open teammates for easy 3-pointers.

By the end of the first quarter, San Joaquin Memorial (23-11) led 18-13. By the middle of the second quarter, the lead was nine, and the Vikings were questioning their strategy of surrounding the twins while leaving the perimeter players open.

``We had to make some adjustments on our plan,'' said Joe Ford. ``That's what playing a couple of 7-footers will do to you.''

Guard Steven Tolbert agreed.

``We had to make an adjustment because it's not every day you see a couple of 7-footers across from you,'' Tolbert said.

The Vikings did a better job of closing out on the Panthers' shooters the rest of the quarter, and started going right at the Lopez twins with Ford and Conor Turley.

The result was foul trouble for both of them. Brook went to the bench midway Midway, island group (2 sq mi/5.2 sq km), central Pacific, c.1,150 mi (1,850 km) NW of Honolulu, comprising Sand and Eastern islands with the surrounding atoll. ``Obviously that helped us a great deal,'' Campbell Hall coach Terry Kelly said. ``We knew they'd get into foul trouble at some point, it was a matter of time. The thing we didn't account for was their shooters hitting as many shots as they did. We didn't expect that.''

The Vikings closed to within 29-27 at halftime. Trailing by one, they then went on a 17-0 run during the last three minutes "Three Minutes" is the 46th episode of Lost.
