The only time the Kingsmen (1-3, 1-0) trailed was after a touchdown pass from Nick Tomasello with 2:35 remaining in the first quarter. CLU trailed 6-3 after it blocked the extra-point attempt. But the Kingsmen went on to score 21 points in both the second and fourth quarters.

Kingsmen quarterback Chris Czernek was 14 of 20 for 207 yards and two touchdowns. George Keiaho capped a 14-play, 83-yard drive with a 7-yard scoring run early in the second quarter to give the lead back to the Kingsmen 10-6 and start a string of five consecutive CLU scores.

The Poets (0-4, 0-2) scored their second touchdown in the fourth quarter but were stopped by two subsequent interceptions. Mike McErlane made the first interception and ran it back 45 yards for a touchdown. Joe Griffin's pickoff pick·off
