By the time the starters were pulled after one possession in the third quarter, second-seeded Hart of Newhall (8-3) had outgained Upland (5-6) 485-101.

Hart, which has won 15 consecutive first-round playoff games by an average of 32.3 points, finished with a 56-14 victory in the first round of the Southern Section Div. II playoffs Friday night. Hart will next play Chino Chino (chē`nō), city (1990 pop. 59,682), San Bernardino co., S Calif.; founded 1887, inc. 1910. It is the business and processing center of a diversified farming (notably dairying) area.  (8-3) at a site to be determined.

Sean Norton was 15 of 22 for 346 yards, including touchdowns to five receivers. Norton, who has thrown for 2,972 yards and 34 touchdowns, will try to surpass the 3,000-yard mark next week against Chino (8-3) at a site to be determine.

Collins scored on a 1-yard run, a 22-yard interception return and a 37- yard reception.

After a scoreless first quarter, the teams scored three touchdowns in a span of 33 seconds midway through the second quarter. Chino struck first when defensive back Ryan McFoy returned an interception 18 yards. McDonald answered with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jesse Ayers. The scoring drive was set up by Ayers' 65-yard kick return. But Chino's Shaugnn Thomas returned the kickoff 82 yards for score.

McDonald was 14 of 29 and was sacked seven times.

Ayers caught five passes for 95 yards and Robert Nichols had 89 yards on three catches.
