DIV. I FINAL GAMES: C, 78-62: PERFECT FINISH FOR CALABASAS CALABASAS 9, PENINSULA 9.

Byline: Erik Boal Special to the Daily News

CLAREMONT - Erin Wiesener understood how important her set against Peninsula A peninsula is a piece of land that is bordered on three sides by water. A peninsula can also be a headland, cape, island promontory, bill, point, or spit.[1] Europe

You will often find them in between plains and mountains, near major rivers, or randomly anywhere. The only places without rolling hills are deserts and flood plains.  Estates senior Tiffany Tiffany, Tiffanie (UK)

Teerawatanont was for Calabasas High's girls' tennis team. The spectators standing on the adjacent court at Monday's Southern Section Div. I final at the Claremont Club gave her an idea of what was at stake.

What the sophomore probably didn't realize was how much magnitude her win carried, not only for the Coyotes, but for the entire landscape of Div. I tennis.

Wiesener's 6-1 victory not only pulled her team even, at 9-9, with top- seeded Peninsula, but it helped Calabasas outlast out·last

``It was a lot of pressure, but it was also a lot of fun,'' said Wiesener, who helped Calabasas snap Peninsula's winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

``I felt good to pull it off. I like it when everyone watches.''

All season long, several Div. I coaches had their eyes on Calabasas (21-0), criticizing the Coyotes for playing what they perceived to be a weak schedule. But against the best the Southern Section had to offer, Calabasas proved it was for real Monday.

``Deep down inside, my girls know they're good players, whether they were No. 1 or No. 2,'' said Calabasas coach Kim Kinberg, whose team finished as the only undefeated program in the Southern Section.

and Kristen McVitty proved they were more than up to the challenge, dropping a combined two games in winning their six singles sets.

``We proved that we're a great team,'' said the USC-bound Fink, one of five remaining members of Calabasas' 2002 championship team - along with McVitty, Jen Bernstein, Helen Kolpakov and Jana Lipson. ``Everyone should have a shot to do this as a senior. It's very rare that you're going to get this kind of team experience.''

Brittney Harper and Jillian Schnitman defeated Emily Aston and Stephanie Chen 6-2 to give Calabasas a 55-42 edge with six sets to play.
