NORTH EDWARDS - For the fourth time in two years, an Edwards Air Force Base Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts.  board.

Katrina Coullier, who was appointed to the board in December 2000, is resigning because her husband is leaving the Air Force and they will move to Rosamond, outside the school district boundary.

``It is a challenge any time you have a lot of turnover on the board. It does take a while for a board member to get acclimated to the job and responsibilities,'' Assistant Superintendent Assistant Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was a rank used by police forces in the British Empire. It was usually the lowest rank that could be held by a European officer, most of whom joined the police at this rank.  Mike Summerbell said.

Coullier's resignation is expected to take effect in February or March, Summerbell said. Her term ends in December 2002.

Once her resignation becomes effective, the board must decide whether to appoint someone or hold a special election.

The Muroc district has a high turnover for its Edwards seats because trustees are usually spouses of military personnel, who are reassigned frequently. The school board has two seats that must be filled by base residents.

Since 2000, three other trustees have departed: Ginger Ashcraft, Jan Finch finch, common name for members of the Fringillidae, the largest family of birds (including over half the known species), found in most parts of the world except Australia.  and Jan Torres.

``It's the nature of the situation. Most of them are in the military. They get transferred to a new assignments and are moving fairly regularly,'' Summerbell said.

Coullier's departure comes at a time when the district is grappling with financial problems.
