In the district's next step toward developing a five-year strategic plan, school officials are asking community members to serve as a think tank.

Residents have been asked to form five "action teams" that will help district officials create efficient strategies for updated and improved technology, communication, curriculum, funding resources and facilities.

The strategic plan will provide a framework for long-range change and growth in schools based upon a "vision of the future," school officials said.

School officials also hope to develop an updated program that continues to focus on student safety.

"The main purpose is to pull together different ideas to come up with a common vision and develop a plan that will take the district into the future," said Vishna Herrity, district coordinator of special programs. "This will bring together various parts of the community with various points of view for a common purpose - to see the district go into the direction to prepare for the youth of tomorrow, prepare them for the world of work, to be able to handle technology and to be well-educated."
