DISTRICT HOPES TO NAME NEW SCHOOLS CHIEF.

PALMDALE -- Palmdale School District The Palmdale School District is a school district that serves a major part of the city of Palmdale, California (USA).

The Palmdale School District was first formed in 1888. Approximately 28,000 students are enrolled in the Palmdale School District.
 trustees are set to interview three finalists today for the position of district superintendent District Superintendent may be:
  • District Superintendent (United Methodist Church)
  • A rank in the London Metropolitan Police in use from 1869 to 1886, when it was renamed Chief Constable

The district will replace former Superintendent Jack Gyves, who retired in June. "Any district would be very lucky to have them. We've got some pretty good candidates. I feel very confident about the people we have," Bynum said.

The district had extended the deadline once to allow more people to apply.

About 15 people applied by the first deadline, Oct. 20, but board members were told several people who missed the deadline wanted to apply.

The application period was extended until March, which brought in about 13 more candidates. The 19 candidates are either superintendents, assistant superintendents or associate superintendents. Several are from out of state, but the majority are from California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W). .

With the superintendent search taking longer than expected, the board in January gave Gallizzi a 10 percent raise, to an annual salary of $160,000.

Gallizzi was named to the interim post in July; a new superintendent had been expected by December.
