The ballot measure will be put before voters in the March 2 primary election. If approved, the bond will pay for building a permanent campus for Vasquez High School.

``You've got to try - we don't have many other options,'' Superintendent Don Banderas said Wednesday.

The board held a special meeting Monday and unanimously approved placing the bond on the ballot. Acton-Agua Dulce officials faced a Friday deadline to get the measure on the March ballot.

About 60 people attended the meeting, and the board heard from speakers for and against the bond.

Passing a bond will help provide relief to the district that is projecting serious budget cuts, Banderas said. ``If we pass the bond, we would be able to eliminate lease payments on relocatables at the temporary site,'' Banderas said.

The cost of the lease payments amounts to about $260,000 annually, Banderas said.
